Speech Therapy Services
Currently, Communication Station is a fee-for-service provider. This means that speech therapy services can be paid for by cash, check or credit card. We are happy to work with you and your insurance provider to ensure you receive maximum reimbursement for speech therapy services. Many plans do not have coverage for speech therapy services, while some plans offer a certain number of sessions per year, and some offer partial coverage. We would encourage you to contact your insurance company to find out what type of coverage you have. We are in the process of getting set up with insurance at this time. We can provide a "super bill," and any other documentation that is needed to your insurance company for you to receive reimbursement.
Screenings
Screenings are a quick way to measure if a child’s speech and language development is on track. They typically take no longer than 10 minutes of time. They can indicate if a full, more comprehensive evaluation is warranted.
Evaluations
A full evaluation typically takes one hour and depending on the age of the child or adult will consist of a test battery (many of which are parent interview/take home questionnaires for very young children). Afterwards, Elizabeth will score the testing instruments and determine need of service, goals, duration and frequency of therapy. You will receive a comprehensive report, which will be provided and reviewed with you. A copy of the report will be sent to your child’s pediatrician, daycare or school, as you wish.
Therapy
Therapy is tailored to the needs of each child at Communication Station. The type of therapy (individual vs. group), duration and frequency are all recommended on a case-by-case basis. For very young children (birth -3), parents are often encouraged to be involved in the therapy sessions to help make the most out of treatment. For older children, typically “homework” will be assigned each session to promote carryover of skills.
***Speech and language therapy is provided in your home or your child’s preschool/daycare.***
**Depending upon how long your child is in need of therapy, periodic progress reports may be requested by your therapist. These are conducted every 6-12 months and can help direct therapy goals and objectives**
